AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to permitting
persons aged sixteen and older to perform ancillary non-gaming activ-
ities in concert with the conduct of any game of bingo
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 486 of the general municipal law, as amended by
2 chapter 438 of the laws of 1962, is amended to read as follows:
3 § 486. Participation by persons under eighteen. No person under the
4 age of eighteen years shall be permitted to play any game or games of
5 bingo conducted pursuant to any license issued under this article unless
6 accompanied by an adult. No person under the age of eighteen years shall
7 be permitted to conduct [or assist in the conduct of] any game of bingo
8 conducted pursuant to any license issued under this article. Nothing in
9 this section shall prevent a person sixteen years of age or older from
10 performing ancillary non-gaming activities conducted in concert with the
11 conduct of any game of bingo conducted pursuant to any license under
12 this article.
13 § 2. Section 476 of the general municipal law is amended by adding a
14 new subdivision 13 to read as follows:
15 13. "Ancillary non-gaming activity" shall mean any activity not
16 directly related to the conduct or outcome of any game of bingo, and
17 shall include assisting at any food concession, cleaning, maintenance
18 and site preparation at the location where games of bingo are conducted.
19 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
