STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5527 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN SENATE March 7, 2023 ___________ Introduced by Sen. CLEARE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to information concerning services for human trafficking victims The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The public authorities law is amended by adding a new 2 section 1266-m to read as follows: 3 § 1266-m. Information concerning services for human trafficking 4 victims. 1. The authority shall make available in plain view and in a 5 conspicuous place and manner in the public restrooms and in any lacta- 6 tion rooms of any transit facility operated by the authority, informa- 7 tional cards and/or signs developed by: 8 (a) the office of temporary and disability assistance in consultation 9 with the New York state interagency task force on human trafficking; or 10 (b) the United States Department of Homeland Security. 11 2. All informational cards and signs shall only contain information 12 concerning services for human trafficking victims and shall prominently 13 include the national human trafficking hotline telephone number. 14 3. For purposes of this section, the term "lactation room" shall mean 15 a hygienic place, other than a restroom, that is intended to be used for 16 the primary purpose of breastfeeding or expressing breast milk. 17 § 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall 18 have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD05707-01-3
