STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6639 IN SENATE February 2, 2016 ___________ Introduced by Sen. BOYLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to posting the child abuse hotline telephone number in schools The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 409-1 2 to read as follows: 3 § 409-1. Posting child abuse hotline telephone number. 1. Each public 4 school and charter school shall post in a clearly visible location in a 5 public area of the school that is readily accessible to students a sign 6 in English and in Spanish that contains the toll-free telephone number 7 operated by the office of children and family services to receive 8 reports of child abuse or neglect established under section four hundred 9 twenty-two of the social services law and directions for accessing the 10 office of children and family services website. 11 2. The commissioner may adopt rules and regulations relating the size 12 and location of the sign required by subdivision one of this section. 13 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
