HARCKHAM -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation -- commit- tee discharged and said bill committed to the Committee on Rules -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered to a third reading, passed by Senate and delivered to the Assembly, recalled, vote recon- sidered, restored to third reading, amended and ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of third reading AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Westchester Purple Heart Highway" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 342-aaa 2 to read as follows: 3 § 342-aaa. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Westchester Purple Heart Highway". All that portion of the state high- 5 way system constituting state route thirty-five beginning at the inter- 6 section of state route thirty-five and United States route two hundred 7 two, continuing in a generally easterly direction, and terminating at 8 the intersection of state route thirty-five and state route one hundred 9 in the town of Somers, county of Westchester, shall be designated and 10 known as the "Westchester Purple Heart Highway". 11 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 12 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 13 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 14 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 15 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 16 ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be 17 changed as a result of this act. 18 § 3.
