WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Aaron Craft on being named the 2014 Division I Defensive Player of the Year in men's basketball by The National Association of Basketball Coaches; and |
WHEREAS, A diligent and capable man, Aaron Craft is deserving of recognition for his outstanding accomplishments as a member of The Ohio State University men's basketball team. A fine athlete, he accumulated 337 steals, including 89 steals this season, and earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Division I defensive team four times in his career, and his record of personal achievement stands as a hallmark worthy of emulation; and |
WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. Through his participation in basketball, Aaron Craft has learned the important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to him throughout his life; and |
WHEREAS, By developing such remarkable prowess, Aaron Craft has earned the appreciation of his fellow athletes, the devotion of countless fans, and the respect of even his most determined rivals. Clearly, he has inspired numerous individuals to excel in various areas of endeavor; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Aaron Craft as the National Division I Defensive Player of the Year and extend best wishes for the years to come; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Aaron Craft. |
