| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated |
2 | Statutes, in registration of vehicles, further providing for |
3 | period of registration. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Section 1307(a.1) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania |
7 | Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: |
8 | § 1307. Period of registration. |

10 | (a.1) Seasonal registration.--Upon application on a form |
11 | prescribed by the department, the owner or lessee of a passenger |
12 | car, recreational motor vehicle, motorcycle, truck [or], farm |
13 | vehicle or antique, classic and collectible vehicle which does |
14 | not have a gross vehicle weight rating of more than 10,000 |
15 | pounds may register the vehicle with the department for a period |
16 | of successive months of less than one year. The applicant shall |
17 | specify the period of months during which the vehicle shall be |
18 | registered. Except when the department initially converts a |

1 | currently valid annual registration to a seasonal registration, |
2 | the annual fee prescribed for the vehicle by Chapter 19 |
3 | (relating to fees) shall be paid in full by the applicant |
4 | regardless of the number of months chosen for registration by |
5 | the applicant. Upon receipt of the appropriate fee and the |
6 | properly completed form, including all information required by |
7 | this chapter, the department shall issue a seasonal registration |
8 | that shall expire on the last day of the expiration month chosen |
9 | by the registrant. No insurer of a vehicle belonging to any |
10 | owner or lessee who obtains a seasonal registration and who |
11 | applies for or receives a reduced automobile insurance premium |
12 | on account thereof shall be required to provide any contractual |
13 | coverage, whether in the form of the provision of a defense or |
14 | the payment of first-party or third-party benefits or otherwise, |
15 | to the owner or lessee in connection with any event occurring |
16 | during that part of the year in which the vehicle is not |
17 | registered; and such owner or lessee shall be treated for all |
18 | purposes, including, without limitation, ascertaining rights to |
19 | stack coverages and to uninsured and underinsured motorist |
20 | coverage, as a person who does not own that vehicle and has no |
21 | duty to carry financial responsibility on it for that part of |
22 | the year. |
