| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Requiring the Pennsylvania State Police to conduct criminal |
2 | background checks requested by an employer. |
3 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
4 | hereby enacts as follows: |
5 | Section 1. Short title. |
6 | This act shall be known and may be cited as the Criminal |
7 | Background Check Act. |
8 | Section 2. Definitions. |
9 | The following words and phrases when used in this act shall |
10 | have the meanings given to them in this section unless the |
11 | context clearly indicates otherwise: |
12 | "Criminal background check." A criminal background check of |
13 | any resident of this Commonwealth conducted at the request of an |
14 | employer. |
15 | Section 3. Pennsylvania State Police. |
16 | Notwithstanding any other provision of law and except for |
17 | criminal background checks conducted by a Federal, State or |
18 | local governmental agency, the Pennsylvania State Police shall |

1 | conduct all criminal background checks. |
2 | Section 10. Effective date. |
3 | This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
