| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania |
2 | Consolidated Statutes, in protection from abuse, further |
3 | providing for commencement of proceedings. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Section 6106(f) and (g) of Title 23 of the |
7 | Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read: |
8 | § 6106. Commencement of proceedings. |

10 | (f) Service by sheriff.--If the court so orders, the sheriff |
11 | or other designated agency or individual shall serve the |
12 | petition and order within 24 hours. |
13 | (g) Service of petition and orders.--The petition and orders |
14 | shall be served upon the defendant, and orders shall be served |
15 | upon the police departments and sheriff with appropriate |
16 | jurisdiction to enforce the orders. Orders shall be [promptly] |
17 | served on the police and sheriff within 24 hours. Failure to |
18 | serve shall not stay the effect of a valid order. |
