A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF JAMES IAN CALHOON OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden and untimely death of James Ian Calhoon of Lexington County on April 28, 2011, at the age of twenty; and

Whereas, born May 28, 1990, James Ian Calhoon was the beloved son of James Kurt Calhoon and Paula Rawl Calhoon; and

Whereas, Ian, as he was known, loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing and being involved in all sports; and

Whereas, prior to his passing, the Lexington native had been accepted to The Citadel and was planning to matriculate in the fall; and

Whereas, in addition to his parents, Ian leaves to cherish his memory his grandparents, Ann Scyphers Rawl Jodie and Joseph L. Jodie and Jimmy Reginald and Sandra Mosley Calhoon; his great-grandmother, Anita G. Breese; his sister and brother-in-law, Ashley Calhoon Sims and Blair Sims; a sister, Sandra Lee Calhoon; his nieces, Aubrey Leigh Ferrell and Maisy Marie Sims; his aunts and uncles, Otis Bodie and Melissa Rawl, Vernon G. and Debbie Hester, Gregory J. and Cindy Konduros, Patrick K. and Candi Bowen, and Mark R. Calhoon; and numerous cousins. Ian was predeceased by his grandfather, Otis Bodie Rawl, Sr.; and

Whereas, Ian was a special young man, dear to both family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of James Ian Calhoon of Lexington County, and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Mr. and Mrs. James Kurt Calhoon for the family.
