A house RESOLUTION

 

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF MELVIN MARION JUSTICE OF TOWNVILLE, TO CELEBRATE HIS LIFE, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened by the passing of Melvin Marion Justice of Townville on March 20, 2024, at the age of 76; and

 

Whereas, born on October 30, 1947, in Greenville, Mel Justice was the son of the late Monroe and Agnes Ensley Justice and a graduate of Parker High School. He furthered his education at Tri-County Tech, where he earned an associate degree in criminal justice; and

 

Whereas, this patriotic American was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, as well as a beloved member of Oakdale Baptist Church; and

 

Whereas, further, he was a faithful employee of the Anderson County Sheriff's Department and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources; and

 

Whereas, he leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Cheryl Sims Justice; his son, Larry Justice (Jana) of Townville; and his daughter, Melissa Justice-Mims (Tal) of Edgefield. In addition, he was the proud grandfather of five: Zoie and Hayden Justice of Townville; and Alex, Bailey, and Carson Mims of Edgefield. Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack Justice and Gary Justice of Greenville, Mel Justice also leaves two siblings, Daniel Justice (Jan) of Greenville and Lucille Bailey (Ken) of Summerville. He will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Melvin Marion Justice of Townville, celebrate his life, and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family.
