HB5342 by Guillen (Relating to the designation of a Texas Department of Transportation building in Starr County as the Eduardo "Eddie" Gracia, Jr., P.E Area Engineer And Maintenance Facility.), As Introduced |
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Transportation Code, Chapter 201, Subchapter Y, to require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect markers indicating the designation of the TxDOT Area Engineer and Maintenance Facility in Starr County as prescribed by the bill, provided that TxDOT would not be required to do so unless a grant or donation of funds is made to TxDOT to cover the costs. Money received from grants or donations would be deposited to the State Highway Fund. The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2023.
Note: This legislation would do one or more of the following: create or recreate a dedicated account in the General Revenue Fund, create or recreate a special or trust fund either in, with, or outside the Treasury, or create a dedicated revenue source. The fund, account, or revenue dedication included in this bill would be subject to funds consolidation review by the current Legislature.
Based on the information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the department's existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
