A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a prohibition on receipt of state money by businesses |
|
|
that implement COVID-19 vaccination requirements. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 161, Health and Safety |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 161.0086 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 161.0086. PROHIBITED RECEIPT OF STATE MONEY BY CERTAIN |
|
|
BUSINESSES. (a) In this section, "COVID-19" means the 2019 novel |
|
|
coronavirus disease. |
|
|
(b) A business in this state that requires the business's |
|
|
customers, employees, vendors, or contractors to be vaccinated |
|
|
against COVID-19 is not eligible to receive state grant money or |
|
|
enter into a contract payable with state money. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 161.0086, Health and Safety Code, as |
|
|
added by this Act, applies only to a state grant awarded to or a |
|
|
contract entered into by a business in this state on or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
