A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the approval of law enforcement training materials by |
|
|
the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 1701.1525 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 1701.1525. REVIEW OF TRAINING MATERIALS. The |
|
|
commission shall establish procedures for the review and approval |
|
|
of course materials or training manuals for use by a school or an |
|
|
education and training program or course provider. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Subchapter F, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 1701.261 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 1701.261. TRAINING MATERIAL APPROVAL REQUIRED. A |
|
|
school or a provider of education and training programs or courses |
|
|
under this chapter, including a continuing education program, may |
|
|
only use course materials or training manuals that have been |
|
|
approved by the commission for use in the program or course. |
|
|
SECTION 3. Not later than December 1, 2015, the Texas |
|
|
Commission on Law Enforcement shall adopt procedures to comply with |
|
|
Section 1701.1525, Occupations Code, as added by this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 4. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b) of this |
|
|
section, this Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
|
|
(b) Section 1701.261, Occupations Code, as added by this |
|
|
Act, takes effect January 1, 2016. |
