A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the eligibility requirements for plumbing licenses |
|
issued to applicants with military service. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 1301, Occupations Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 1301.3585 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 1301.3585. APPLICANT WITH MILITARY SERVICE. (a) In |
|
this section, "military" means the armed forces of the United |
|
States, Texas National Guard, or Texas State Guard. |
|
(b) The board shall credit relevant experience, training, |
|
or education in plumbing that an applicant received while serving |
|
in the military toward the requirements for a license issued under |
|
this chapter. |
|
(c) The board shall adopt rules necessary to implement this |
|
section. |
|
SECTION 2. (a) Section 1301.3585, Occupations Code, as |
|
added by this Act, applies only to an application for a license |
|
filed on or after May 1, 2014. An application for a license filed |
|
before May 1, 2014, is governed by the law in effect on the date the |
|
application was filed, and that law is continued in effect for that |
|
purpose. |
|
(b) The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners shall adopt |
|
rules under Section 1301.3585, Occupations Code, as added by this |
|
Act, not later than March 1, 2014. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
