commemorating the Bill of Rights on the Supreme Court Building | ||
plaza. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Chapter 443, Government Code, is amended by | ||
adding Section 443.0141 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 443.0141. BILL OF RIGHTS PLAZA. (a) Subject to | ||
Subsection (b), the State Preservation Board and the Texas | ||
Facilities Commission may: | ||
(1) authorize the placement and construction of a | ||
memorial plaza commemorating the federal Bill of Rights on the | ||
plaza in front of the Supreme Court Building; and | ||
(2) jointly determine matters relating to the | ||
location, content, design, construction, and maintenance of the | ||
memorial plaza on property under the jurisdiction of the board or | ||
the commission. | ||
(b) Public money may not be used to finance the design or | ||
construction of the memorial plaza. | ||
(c) The board and the commission may adopt rules necessary | ||
to implement and administer this section. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
