relating to a grant program for law enforcement agencies that | ||
comply with certain reporting requirements. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 402, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 402.0391 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 402.0391. GRANT PROGRAM FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES | ||
THAT COMPLY WITH CERTAIN REPORTING REQUIREMENTS. (a) Using money | ||
appropriated for the purpose, the attorney general shall award | ||
grants to law enforcement agencies if the head of the agency | ||
certifies under oath that the agency complies with the reporting | ||
requirements under Article 2.139, Code of Criminal Procedure, as | ||
added by Chapter 516 (H.B. 1036), Acts of the 84th Legislature, | ||
Regular Session, 2015. | ||
(b) The attorney general annually shall request proposals | ||
for the award of grants under this section. | ||
(c) Grant money received under this section may only be used | ||
for police training and equipment that are not military or | ||
paramilitary in nature. | ||
(d) The attorney general shall establish procedures to | ||
administer the grant program, including a procedure for the | ||
submission of a proposal. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
