A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the designation of certain federal funds for border |
|
|
infrastructure projects. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 222, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 222.036 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 222.036. DESIGNATION OF CERTAIN FUNDS FOR BORDER |
|
|
INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS. As provided by Fixing America's Surface |
|
|
Transportation Act (Pub. L. No. 114-94) or other similar federal |
|
|
law, the governor shall, each fiscal year, designate at least five |
|
|
percent of funds available to this state under 23 U.S.C. Section |
|
|
133(d)(1)(B) for border infrastructure projects. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
