A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the eligibility of certain persons to teach a driver |
|
|
education course. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 1001.112, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) The rules adopted under Subsection (a) must provide |
|
|
that a person with 10 years of driving experience may conduct a |
|
|
driver education course under this section in lieu of the parent, |
|
|
stepparent, foster parent, legal guardian, grandparent, or |
|
|
step-grandparent of an individual who is required to complete a |
|
|
driver education course to obtain a Class C license, if the person |
|
|
does not charge a fee for conducting the course and otherwise |
|
|
qualifies to conduct a course under Subsection (a). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
