BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. The heading to Section 173.004, Election Code, | ||
is amended to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 173.004. STATE COMPENSATION OF COUNTY CHAIR [ |
||

||
SECTION 2. Section 173.004(a), Election Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
(a) |
||
as the maximum [ |
||
particular primary election year for the [ |
||
|
||
expenses is submitted under Section 173.081 by the county chair | ||
[ |
||
|
||
(1) [ |
||
(2) if the county executive committee conducts a joint | ||
primary under Section 172.126 or contracts with a county election | ||
officer under Subchapter D, Chapter 31, $300 plus the amount | ||
obtained from multiplying the number of precincts in the county by | ||
$20 [ |
||

||
(3) an amount equal to [ |
||
total expenses incurred by the political party in holding primary | ||
elections in the county that year, exclusive of the [ |
||
annual compensation of the county chair and any payments to other | ||
personnel, money spent for rental payments, including polling place | ||
rental, and money spent for expenses related to furniture or | ||
utilities. The resulting compensation under subsection (2) and (3) | ||
shall not exceed: | ||
(A) $3,500 in a county with a population greater | ||
than one million; | ||
(B) $2,000 in a county with a population of one | ||
million or less and greater than 250,000; | ||
(C) $1,000 in a county with a population of | ||
250,000 or less and greater than 25,000; or | ||
(D) $500 in a county with a population of 25,000 | ||

SECTION 3. Section 173.004(b), Election Code, is repealed. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
