A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the optional county fee in certain counties for the |
|
|
county road and bridge fund. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 502.172, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
(a) Except as provided by Subsection (a-1), the [The] |
|
|
commissioners court of a county by order may impose an additional |
|
|
fee, not to exceed $10, for registering a vehicle in the county. |
|
|
(a-1) The commissioners court of a county that has a |
|
|
population of 1.7 million or more and in which more than 75 percent |
|
|
of the population lives in a single municipality by order may impose |
|
|
an additional fee, not to exceed $20, for registering a vehicle in |
|
|
the county. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
