A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to certain employment restrictions for former county or |
|
|
municipal officers or employees. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 171, Local Government Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Section 171.008 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 171.008. CERTAIN EMPLOYMENT FOR FORMER COUNTY OR |
|
|
MUNICIPAL OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE RESTRICTED. A former county or |
|
|
municipal officer or employee who during the period of county or |
|
|
municipal service or employment participated on behalf of the |
|
|
county or municipality in a procurement or contract negotiation |
|
|
involving a person may not accept employment from that person |
|
|
before the second anniversary of the date the contract is signed or |
|
|
the procurement is terminated or withdrawn. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to a county or municipal officer or employee whose service or |
|
|
employment with a county or municipality ceases on or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
