A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the appropriation of money from the economic |
|
|
stabilization fund to finance universal, high quality, |
|
|
prekindergarten education programs. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. In addition to other appropriated amounts, the |
|
|
amount of $1,500,000,000 is appropriated for the state fiscal |
|
|
biennium ending August 31, 2017 from the economic stabilization |
|
|
fund to the credit of the general revenue fund for Texas as money |
|
|
available for use by Texas Education Agency for the purpose of |
|
|
funding universal, high quality, prekindergarten education |
|
|
programs for children who are at least three years of age. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015, but only |
|
|
if it receives a vote of two-thirds of the members present in each |
|
|
house of the legislature, as provided by Section 49-g(m), Article |
|
|
III, Texas Constitution. |
