A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the required notice of a patient's right to receive an |
|
|
estimate of certain health care services provided by a physician. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 101.352, Occupations Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c-1) A physician or physician group shall post a clear and |
|
|
conspicuous notice of a patient's right to receive an estimate of |
|
|
charges under Subsection (c): |
|
|
(1) in at least one area of the physician's or group's |
|
|
office where patients are commonly present; and |
|
|
(2) on the physician's or group's Internet website if |
|
|
the physician or group maintains an Internet website. |
|
|
SECTION 2. (a) The Health Professions Council may |
|
|
prescribe the form and content required for a notice under Section |
|
|
101.352(c-1), Occupations Code, as added by this Act. |
|
|
(b) Notwithstanding Section 101.352(c-1), Occupations |
|
|
Code, as added by this Act, a physician or physician group is not |
|
|
required to comply with that section until December 1, 2019. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
