| relating to the allocation of certain federal money provided under | ||
| the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 2306.111, Government Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (j) to read as follows: | ||
| (j) Notwithstanding any other law, money provided to this | ||
| state under the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act | ||
| (42 U.S.C. Section 12701 et seq.) as a one-time lump sum for a | ||
| specified use: | ||
| (1) is not subject to the allocation requirements | ||
| under this section or the allocation formula developed by the | ||
| department under Section 2306.1115; and | ||
| (2) may be allocated for the benefit of any area of | ||
| this state in the manner specified under federal law. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
