CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on May 24,
  2024, with the passing of Frank Ferrell Davis of Midland at the age
  of 80; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Mary Frank and Paul Davis, Ferrell
  "Chivo" Davis was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 12,
  1944, and he grew up with the companionship of a brother, Paul;
  after graduating from Midland High School, he attended The
  University of Texas at Austin and then went on to earn his
  bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University; he
  subsequently answered his nation's call to duty, and following his
  military service, he began his professional career in 1967 with
  Shell USA, Inc.; after working for various independent oil and gas
  companies, he founded Davis Partners, Ltd., in 1978, and he oversaw
  the business's growth over the succeeding decades; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Davis also had a passion for ranching, and he
  managed a successful cow/calf and meat goat operation in Bandera
  County, earning a Man of the Year in Texas Agriculture award from
  the Texas County Agriculture Agents Association in 2001; engaged in
  his community, he served as a board member of the Midland Children's
  Rehabilitation Center, Manor Park, Inc., Bynum School, and Texas
  Commerce Bank-Midland, and he was an active congregant of First
  Methodist Midland; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Davis was blessed with the
  love and support of his wife of 57 years, Polly; he took great pride
  in their twin daughters, Jennifer and Shelley, and his treasured
  family grew to include six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter;
  during his leisure hours, he enjoyed entertaining neighbors and
  friends and spending time with his many dogs; and
         WHEREAS, Although Ferrell Davis is deeply missed, memories of
  his enthusiasm for life, his strength of character, and his
  devotion to his family remain to comfort and inspire those he leaves
  behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Frank Ferrell Davis and extend
  sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Polly
  Chappell Davis; to his daughters, Jennifer Davis Hord and her
  husband, Willis, and Shelley Davis Harper and her husband, Jack; to
  his grandchildren, Lauren Ferrell Harper, Davis Lee Hord and his
  wife, Margaret, Ellen Claire Hord, Hunt Daniel Hord, Caroline
  Bryant Harper, and Olivia Chappell Harper; to his great-grandchild,
  Frances Fox Hord; to his brother, Paul L. Davis Jr., and his wife,
  Betty Rae; to his sister-in-law, Carolyn Chappell Light, and her
  husband, David; to his brother-in-law, David Scott Miles; and to
  his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Ferrell Davis.
