R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Residents of La Porte are gathering together for the |
|
|
2017 National Night Out Against Crime; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, |
|
|
this annual event provides an opportunity for Texans to join forces |
|
|
with individuals in thousands of other towns and cities across the |
|
|
country to promote cooperative crime prevention efforts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Each year, neighborhoods host cookouts, parades, |
|
|
flashlight walks, and other activities for National Night Out, |
|
|
helping to build community cohesiveness, strengthen relations |
|
|
between residents and local police, and increase awareness of |
|
|
anticrime strategies while sending a message of solidarity to |
|
|
would-be criminals; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The importance of reducing crime, drug use, and |
|
|
violence cannot be overstated, and by taking part in National Night |
|
|
Out observances, Texans affirm their commitment to making their |
|
|
communities stronger and safer; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize the 2017 National Night Out Against |
|
|
Crime in La Porte as an essential crime prevention event and commend |
|
|
all those involved in this vital endeavor. |
