| WHEREAS, Sara Monarrez of Girl Scout Troop No. 667 in | ||
| McKinney has attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this | ||
| accomplishment truly merits recognition; and | ||
| WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Monarrez successfully | ||
| met a series of requirements emphasizing community service, | ||
| personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership | ||
| skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Girl | ||
| Scout Gold Award project that involved the creation of a mentoring | ||
| program for young girls at the McKinney Housing Authority; known as | ||
| the Girls Empowerment Club, this invaluable endeavor was recognized | ||
| by the McKinney City Council with a certificate of appreciation; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Robert and Lori | ||
| Monarrez, this fine young Texan is a senior at Imagine | ||
| International Academy of North Texas, where she has earned Academic | ||
| Excellence honors and served as a stalwart member of the swimming | ||
| and tennis teams; she plans to continue her education in the fall at | ||
| the University of North Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Monarrez has | ||
| demonstrated in the pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the | ||
| highest ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with | ||
| pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Sara Monarrez on her receipt of the | ||
| Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued success and happiness; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Monarrez as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
