| WHEREAS, Senior Officer Juan Rincon Prieto of the Corpus | ||
| Christi Police Department lost his life in the line of duty on | ||
| February 2, 1993, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be | ||
| forgotten; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An officer with 27 years of experience in the Corpus | ||
| Christi Police Department, Officer Prieto was directing traffic at | ||
| Up River and Suntide Roads when he was struck and killed by a pickup | ||
| truck; and | ||
| WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Officer Prieto was | ||
| survived by a wife, two sons, and two daughters; the legacy of this | ||
| dedicated public servant was honored in the community he so ably | ||
| served with a park that was named in his memory; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the | ||
| courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as | ||
| Officer Prieto, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each | ||
| day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of | ||
| Senior Officer Juan Rincon Prieto of the Corpus Christi Police | ||
| Department. | ||
