R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, For 30 years, Camp Kadima in El Paso has provided |
|
children and adults with special needs the chance to experience the |
|
fun, excitement, and friendship of a summer camp; and |
|
WHEREAS, Camp Kadima is a three-week-long summer day camp |
|
designed to accommodate persons with a range of physical and |
|
developmental disabilities; supported and overseen by the Jewish |
|
Federation of Greater El Paso, the camp hosted its first season in |
|
1987, and now it has grown from five to nearly 30 campers, some of |
|
whom have attended the camp almost since it opened; and |
|
WHEREAS, Activities that foster the development of motor, |
|
communication, and social skills are offered both on and off |
|
campus, and campers, who are encouraged to participate in |
|
activities to the best of their abilities, have the opportunity to |
|
learn practical skills that can help them live more independently; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Now led by Robin Gold, administrator, and Tom |
|
Murphy, director, Camp Kadima is helping individuals with |
|
disabilities learn, grow, and create memories that will last a |
|
lifetime, and all those involved in this exemplary program may take |
|
great pride in all that they are achieving; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Camp Kadima on its |
|
30th anniversary and extend to the program's organizers and |
|
participants sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Camp Kadima as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
