| WHEREAS, Texas PTA president Suzi Kennon has distinguished | ||
| herself as a tireless advocate for Texas youth; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Since 2020, Mrs. Kennon has overseen Texas PTA, | ||
| which was founded in 1909 and has proved to be a vital resource for | ||
| parents, teachers, school administrators, and community leaders; | ||
| nearly half a million members strong, the organization seeks to | ||
| encourage family engagement in order to promote the health, | ||
| education, and overall well-being of children on school campuses | ||
| across the state; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A committed champion of her local community, | ||
| Mrs. Kennon has held several leadership roles with the Wylie ISD | ||
| PTA, including president; during her tenure at the helm of the Texas | ||
| PTA, she has ably guided the organization through the many | ||
| challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Kennon is a recipient of the Elizabeth W. | ||
| Garrison Award from the Wylie ISD Education Foundation, and Texas | ||
| PTA named her an honorary life member and recognized her with an | ||
| extended service award; in addition, she received the National PTA | ||
| Life Achievement Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Kennon enjoys the love | ||
| and support of a fine family that includes her husband and three | ||
| children; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Suzi Kennon has contributed significantly to the | ||
| nearly 2,200 PTAs in the Lone Star State and helped make the state | ||
| an even better place in which to live and raise a family, and her | ||
| outstanding efforts in behalf of Texas schoolchildren are indeed | ||
| deserving of commendation; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commend Suzi Kennon for her service to Texas PTA | ||
| and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mrs. Kennon as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
