R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Former students and colleagues gathered on March 27, |
|
2013, to honor Margarita Moreno for her four decades of service as |
|
an educator in the Kingsville Independent School District; and |
|
WHEREAS, A 1942 graduate of H. M. King High School, |
|
Ms. Moreno first began teaching at the age of 19, using an emergency |
|
teaching certificate being issued at the time to make up for the |
|
loss of male teachers to military service during World War II; in |
|
1947, she received her bachelor's degree in elementary education |
|
from Texas A&I University and earned her master's degree three |
|
years later; she joined Kleberg Elementary in 1949, and she |
|
remained on the staff until 1975, when she was transferred to Harvey |
|
Elementary; she spent the final decade of her career at Perez |
|
Elementary, retiring in 1984; and |
|
WHEREAS, This longtime educator has been praised for her |
|
dedication to her students, her kindness, and her emphasis on |
|
bilingualism in her classroom; now 89, Ms. Moreno was recognized |
|
for her many contributions to the community at the March |
|
celebration, which was held at the Kleberg Elementary School |
|
library; and |
|
WHEREAS, Margarita Moreno has had a positive influence on the |
|
lives of generations of area Texans, and she inspired in her |
|
students a love of learning that has served them well throughout |
|
their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Margarita Moreno for her 40 years of |
|
service to the students of Kingsville ISD and extend to her sincere |
|
best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Moreno as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
