R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Elsie Chen has been named valedictorian of the Class |
|
|
of 2017 at Sharpstown International School in Houston, and she |
|
|
indeed merits special recognition for receiving this significant |
|
|
honor; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude but also four years of dedication to the |
|
|
highest academic standards; in securing her place as the |
|
|
top-ranking student in her class, Ms. Chen demonstrated a thorough |
|
|
understanding of a wide range of subjects, and her attainment of |
|
|
this coveted distinction is the crowning achievement of a notable |
|
|
high school career; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Chen has successfully balanced a challenging |
|
|
academic course load with a number of extracurricular activities, |
|
|
including her performances with the school's wind ensemble and her |
|
|
involvement with the student council and The Woods Project; in her |
|
|
free time, she enjoys playing billiards and Tetris and singing |
|
|
karaoke; after graduation, she plans to pursue a degree in |
|
|
neurobiology at Washington University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During her years at Sharpstown International |
|
|
School, Elsie Chen has earned the respect and admiration of her |
|
|
teachers and classmates, and her exceptional scholastic ability and |
|
|
commitment to excellence have opened the way to a bright and |
|
|
promising future for this outstanding young Texan; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Elsie Chen, valedictorian of the |
|
|
Sharpstown International School Class of 2017, and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the next |
|
|
exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Chen as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
