H.R. No. 2034

	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Barbara Powers has been named the recipient of the
	Silver Beaver Award by the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of
	America; and
	WHEREAS, This distinguished service commendation pays
	tribute to individuals who have made a positive difference in the
	lives of Texas youth through their dedicated work in behalf of the
	council; and
	WHEREAS, A truly deserving recipient, Ms. Powers has shared
	her time and talents with the organization through her service as a
	den leader, assistant scoutmaster, committee chair, district
	committee member, associate advisor, and district vice-chair; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Powers is a member of the Order of the Arrow and
	has earned the District Award of Merit, and she has served as
	president of the Kiwanis International Scouting Association; in
	addition to her work with the Boy Scouts organization, she is the
	treasurer for the Garland Homeowners Coalition, a driver for Meals
	on Wheels, and a volunteer for dozens of organizations in the
	Garland area; and
	WHEREAS, Many young people have benefited from the
	leadership, commitment, and enthusiasm of Barbara Powers, and it is
	a pleasure to join in acknowledging her exceptional contributions
	to the Boy Scouts of America; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
	Legislature hereby congratulate Barbara Powers on her receipt of
	the Silver Beaver Award from the Circle Ten Council of the Boy
	Scouts of America and extend to her sincere best wishes for
	continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for Ms. Powers as an expression of high regard by the Texas
	House of Representatives.
