R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Ernest "Ray" Hicks of Waco, who passed away on April 9, 2011, at |
|
the age of 76; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ray Hicks was born in Groesbeck on September 10, |
|
1934, to Ernest and Nina Hicks; as a young man he answered his |
|
nation's call to duty and served with the U.S. Army; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hicks wed the former Naomi Sedberry, the love of |
|
his life, on Valentine's Day in 1963; they enjoyed a rewarding |
|
marriage of 48 years and were blessed with three sons, Donald, |
|
Randy, and Ralph, as well as nine grandchildren and three |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, A longtime truck driver, Mr. Hicks enjoyed being on |
|
the road and seeing new places; over the years, he worked for Young |
|
Brothers, Campbell Soup, and Central Texas Frame and Alignment, and |
|
he was a self-employed contractor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in the life of Ray |
|
Hicks will always remember him with great affection and admiration; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ray Hicks and extend |
|
sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Naomi |
|
Hicks; to his sons, Randy Wayne Hicks, Donald Ray Hicks and his |
|
wife, Nancy, and Ralph Len Hicks and his wife, Rana; to his nine |
|
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; to his twin sister, |
|
Dorothy Sterling, and his other sister, Georgia Baker; to his |
|
brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean and Kathy Hicks and Carlos and |
|
Joyce Hicks; and to his other family and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ernest Ray |
|
Hicks. |
