R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Students and educators throughout the state are |
|
|
celebrating Texas Girls in STEM Day on March 1, 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 2019 by the 86th Texas Legislature, |
|
|
Texas Girls in STEM Day encourages girls to consider career fields |
|
|
related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In observance of Texas Girls in STEM Day, many |
|
|
public schools, colleges, universities, and other organizations |
|
|
hold ceremonies, activities, and programs that celebrate |
|
|
successful women in STEM fields and that give girls the opportunity |
|
|
to learn more about subjects that they may not have been encouraged |
|
|
to explore otherwise; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas Girls in STEM Day is helping countless young |
|
|
Texans to develop the skills and spirit of innovation that will |
|
|
allow them to succeed in a rapidly changing global economy, and this |
|
|
occasion presents a welcome opportunity to recognize participation |
|
|
in STEM study as an essential component of a well-rounded |
|
|
education; now therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 1, 2023, as Texas Girls in STEM |
|
|
Day. |
