WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the State of Texas | ||
is pleased to recognize Lillie Mae Wieding for her many | ||
contributions to the Three Rivers community and her exceptional | ||
service as president of First State Bank; and | ||
WHEREAS, Lillie Mae Wieding was valedictorian of her | ||
graduating class at Three Rivers High School; she began her career | ||
at First State Bank as a bookkeeper in 1951, when bank records were | ||
kept in hand-written ledger books and the terms of a home loan fit | ||
on a single page; and | ||
WHEREAS, Through the years, she learned the details of the | ||
banking business by working in a wide variety of positions; she | ||
served as a cashier, teller, loan officer, and vice president; she | ||
was elected to the board of directors and named bank president in | ||
1990; and | ||
WHEREAS, Under her outstanding leadership, the bank | ||
continued to grow and prosper and to play an important role in the | ||
life of the community; she established the annual tradition of the | ||
bank's free holiday dinner, and she helped many people to maintain | ||
their businesses; in addition, she has served on numerous community | ||
boards, has been a member of many organizations and clubs, and is a | ||
lifetime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church; and | ||
WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, she is beloved and respected by | ||
area citizens, and it is truly fitting that she receive special | ||
recognition for her generous spirit and her many achievements; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby recognize Lillie Mae Wieding for her exceptional | ||
contributions to the people of Three Rivers as a community leader | ||
and as president of First State Bank and extend to her best wishes | ||
for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her as an expression of high regard by the Texas House | ||
of Representatives. | ||
