R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, On July 21, 2017, ABC affiliate KAVU-TV in Victoria |
|
|
celebrated the 35th anniversary of its inaugural broadcast; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Originally owned by Drs. George and Ruth Constant, |
|
|
KAVU signed on for the first time on July 21, 1982; in its early |
|
|
days, the station was an affiliate of NBC, and today its parent |
|
|
company operates 11 digital channels and serves more than 300,000 |
|
|
residents across 11 counties; over the years, KAVU has earned a |
|
|
number of industry awards and honors, including recognition from |
|
|
the Associated Press; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The station has also dedicated itself to giving back |
|
|
to the community by supporting a host of worthwhile causes; it |
|
|
partners annually with Faith Family Church to collect Christmas |
|
|
toys and school supplies for local children, and it helps provide |
|
|
nearly 10,000 meals for individuals in need each year through its |
|
|
work with the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout a rich history that has spanned three and |
|
|
a half decades, KAVU has done an outstanding job of keeping the |
|
|
people of the Victoria area informed and enlightened; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the 35th |
|
|
anniversary of KAVU-TV in Victoria and extend to all those |
|
|
associated with the station sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for KAVU-TV as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
