R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Former National Football League star Tim Brown has |
|
been named a North Texas Father of the Year by the Sylvan Landau |
|
Foundation; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Father of the Year Awards program was |
|
established in 1976 by Dallas men's clothier Sylvan Landau with the |
|
mission of honoring exceptional fathers while raising funds for |
|
children's charities; to date, the program has contributed nearly |
|
$4 million to more than 30 Metroplex charities; and |
|
WHEREAS, Tim Brown graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School |
|
in Dallas and went on to win the 1987 Heisman Trophy at the |
|
University of Notre Dame; a first-round NFL draft pick, he played 16 |
|
seasons with the Oakland Raiders and retired in 2005; today he lives |
|
in DeSoto with his wife and four children and oversees the Tim Brown |
|
Foundation, which works to strengthen the moral character of |
|
America's youth and to prevent childhood obesity; and |
|
WHEREAS, Committed to the health and success of America's |
|
children as well as his own, Tim Brown has set an inspiring example |
|
of leadership, and he is truly deserving of this prestigious |
|
accolade; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Tim Brown on |
|
being named a 2011 North Texas Father of the Year and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
