R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, El Paso Community College is celebrating the 50th |
|
anniversary of its founding in 2019; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1969, El Paso Community College had |
|
an initial enrollment of 901 students, and its first classes were |
|
held in the Logan Heights barracks at Fort Bliss; over the years, |
|
the college has grown to serve more than one million students at |
|
five campuses and has awarded over 80,000 degrees and certificates; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, EPCC offers a variety of programs and degree |
|
tracks, including dual credit programs for high school students in |
|
every area school district; across its 12 early college high |
|
schools, which enable students to earn associate degrees, enrollees |
|
have achieved a 75 percent graduation rate; and |
|
WHEREAS, For half a century, El Paso Community College has |
|
remained committed to meeting the educational needs of its |
|
students, and the school has played a vital role in helping many |
|
build a bright and prosperous future; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of El Paso |
|
Community College and extend to all those associated with the |
|
school sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for El Paso Community College as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
