A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a report by the Texas Workforce Commission regarding |
|
|
certain employee issues. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 301, Labor Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 301.0655 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 301.0655. REPORT ON EMPLOYEE ISSUES. (a) In this |
|
|
section, "labor commissioner" means the member of the commission |
|
|
who is appointed as a representative of labor under Section |
|
|
301.002. |
|
|
(b) The commission shall report, not later than January 1 of |
|
|
each odd-numbered year, to the governor, lieutenant governor, |
|
|
speaker of the house of representatives, and chairs of the |
|
|
legislative committees with appropriate jurisdiction: |
|
|
(1) a description of the activities of the commission; |
|
|
(2) a description of any problems confronted by public |
|
|
and private employees, as determined by the labor commissioner; and |
|
|
(3) any recommendations for regulatory and |
|
|
legislative action to address any problems identified under |
|
|
Subdivision (2). |
|
|
(c) The commission may recommend proposed legislation to |
|
|
the legislature that the labor commissioner determines would |
|
|
positively affect the interests of public and private employees. |
|
|
(d) The commission shall publish the report on the |
|
|
commission's Internet website. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
