A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a classroom visual aid stipend for public school |
|
|
classroom teachers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter I, Chapter 21, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 21.4141 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 21.4141. STIPEND FOR CLASSROOM VISUAL AIDS. (a) |
|
|
Subject to Subsection (b), a school district shall provide to each |
|
|
classroom teacher a classroom visual aid stipend in the amount of |
|
|
$50 each semester. A teacher may use a stipend under this section |
|
|
only to acquire visual aids for classroom instruction. |
|
|
(b) This section applies only if a school district receives |
|
|
additional state aid under Section 42.25131. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Subchapter E, Chapter 42, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 42.25131 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 42.25131. ADDITIONAL STATE AID FOR CLASSROOM VISUAL AID |
|
|
STIPENDS. (a) To fund classroom visual aid stipends under Section |
|
|
21.4141, a school district, including a school district that is |
|
|
otherwise ineligible for state aid under this chapter, is entitled |
|
|
each school year to additional state aid in an amount equal to the |
|
|
product of $100 multiplied by the number of classroom teachers |
|
|
employed by the district that school year. |
|
|
(b) The commissioner may adopt rules to implement this |
|
|
section. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
