| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 466.355, Government Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
| (d) Of the money transferred to the foundation school fund | ||
| under Subsection (b)(4)(B) in each state fiscal year, 50 percent | ||
| shall be used only for funding salary increases for public school | ||
| classroom teachers with at least six years of teaching experience | ||
| and school district costs exclusively associated with teacher | ||
| retirement contributions authorized by this section, and any | ||
| portion of the 50 percent remaining after giving priority to | ||
| funding for those purposes shall be used for funding bonuses to | ||
| public school classroom teachers with at least six years of | ||
| teaching experience. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
