SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 446
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Texas Nurses Association and welcome the
  registered and vocational nurses visiting the Capitol in honor of
  Nurse Day 2011; and
 
         WHEREAS, Thousands of registered and vocational nurses
  care for Texans every day in hospitals, nursing homes, home
  health agencies, and other settings, and they are vital to the
  quality of health care provided in our state; and
 
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1907 by a group of 19 nurses, the Texas
  Nurses Association is the oldest professional nursing
  association in the state; its members represent all segments of
  the nursing profession and come from every setting where nursing
  is practiced; and
 
         WHEREAS, The Texas Nurses Association continues to uphold
  its mission to move the nursing profession forward through
  leadership, advocacy, and innovation, and its members share a
  common purpose of advancing excellence in nursing; and
 
         WHEREAS, Texas nurses deserve our respect, praise, and
  admiration for their commitment to bringing quality care to the
  citizens of this state; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby proclaim March 8, 2011, Nurse Day at the
  Capitol and commend all nurses for their invaluable service; and,
  be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of Nurse Day 2011 at the Capitol.
