SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 547
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize the Denver Harbor Little League on the occasion of its
	58th anniversary and on the opening of this year's season on
	April 8, 2017; and
	WHEREAS, In 1939, Carl Stotz envisioned a baseball program
	that would give his young nephews an opportunity to play a sport
	they loved but were not yet old enough to play as part of an
	organized team; through his dedication to his family and to the
	children of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the Little League
	baseball program was founded, and soon, communities around the
	nation began establishing Little League charters for local
	youth; and
	WHEREAS, This year, the Denver Harbor Little League
	program is celebrating 58 years of local youth participation in
	America's favorite pastime; the chapter has played an important
	role in the community as area children have continued to seek out
	fun activities to engage in with their peers, and parents have
	continued to pursue opportunities that contribute to their
	children's overall health and well-being; and
	WHEREAS, The Denver Harbor Little League helps to instill
	good sportsmanship, courage, and loyalty in all who participate,
	and much is owed to the many adult volunteers who have worked to
	ensure the chapter's continued success in the community; the
	program's 58th anniversary is indeed cause for celebration; now,
	therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
	Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the Denver
	Harbor Little League and extend to them best wishes for a
	memorable 58th-season opening ceremony; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	the league as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
