Carl Brian Vernon |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of Lago Vista in mourning the loss of Carl Brian Vernon, |
|
who died February 2, 2011, at the age of 53; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Carl Vernon was born August 31, 1957, in San |
|
Diego, California; he was a 1975 graduate of Del Valle High |
|
School, where he was a member of the track and cross-country |
|
teams; he also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 14; |
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Known for his adventurous spirit and his love of |
|
the outdoors, Mr. Vernon participated in sailing, scuba diving, |
|
hang gliding, sky diving, snowboarding, and windsurfing; above |
|
all, he loved to fly; he was an enthusiastic and skilled pilot and |
|
aircraft mechanic who founded Lone Star Aercraft and served as a |
|
civilian instructor for American military test pilot training |
|
programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He organized the flyovers of the Lago Vista Air |
|
Force at the community's annual Fourth of July event for many |
|
years, and in 1990, he completed a solo flight across the |
|
Atlantic Ocean in a Cessna 206 aircraft; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Vernon was active in numerous other community |
|
activities; he led many young men to become Eagle Scouts as a |
|
scoutmaster for Troop 198 and served as chair of Saint Mary's |
|
Catholic Church Octoberfest celebration; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he |
|
gave unselfishly to others, and his generous spirit and his |
|
enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be |
|
forgotten by those who knew him; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and his |
|
family and many friends will long cherish the memories of his |
|
life and his many achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Carl Brian Vernon: his wife, Rachel; his children, |
|
Brian, Matthew, Garrett, and Sierra; his mother, Rose Vernon; and |
|
his siblings, Gina, John, Terri, Colleen, and Kevin; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, |
|
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of |
|
Carl Brian Vernon. |
