| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to pay | ||
| tribute to Susan Angell-Gonzalez, who is retiring from her | ||
| position at Texas State University on May 4, 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, For the past 16 years, Susan has been the director | ||
| and choreographer of the Texas State Strutters, the acclaimed | ||
| drill team founded in 1960 at Texas State University; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Under Susan's leadership, the squad has performed | ||
| its precision dance routines in localities as far-flung as | ||
| Turkey, Chile, Australia, and the Czech Republic; back home, the | ||
| dancers have brightened the halftimes at Bobcat Stadium during | ||
| football season in San Marcos and have made annual guest | ||
| appearances before San Antonio Spurs audiences; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A former Strutters captain herself, Susan has | ||
| guided her team to impressive heights; the group has performed in | ||
| the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and has | ||
| advanced to the semi-finals competition on the television show | ||
| "America's Got Talent"; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This talented choreographer has been an | ||
| outstanding role model over the years, and she has maintained the | ||
| high standards and core values for which the Strutters are | ||
| renowned; as she prepares for the next chapter of her life, Susan | ||
| leaves behind a legacy of excellence in precision dance, and she | ||
| will be dearly missed by her fans and friends alike; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Susan Angell-Gonzalez for her | ||
| successes as director of the Texas State Strutters and extend to | ||
| her sincere best wishes in the years ahead; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
