SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 725
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to pay |
|
|
tribute to Susan Angell-Gonzalez, who is retiring from her |
|
|
position at Texas State University on May 4, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For the past 16 years, Susan has been the director |
|
|
and choreographer of the Texas State Strutters, the acclaimed |
|
|
drill team founded in 1960 at Texas State University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under Susan's leadership, the squad has performed |
|
|
its precision dance routines in localities as far-flung as |
|
|
Turkey, Chile, Australia, and the Czech Republic; back home, the |
|
|
dancers have brightened the halftimes at Bobcat Stadium during |
|
|
football season in San Marcos and have made annual guest |
|
|
appearances before San Antonio Spurs audiences; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A former Strutters captain herself, Susan has |
|
|
guided her team to impressive heights; the group has performed in |
|
|
the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and has |
|
|
advanced to the semi-finals competition on the television show |
|
|
"America's Got Talent"; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This talented choreographer has been an |
|
|
outstanding role model over the years, and she has maintained the |
|
|
high standards and core values for which the Strutters are |
|
|
renowned; as she prepares for the next chapter of her life, Susan |
|
|
leaves behind a legacy of excellence in precision dance, and she |
|
|
will be dearly missed by her fans and friends alike; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Susan Angell-Gonzalez for her |
|
|
successes as director of the Texas State Strutters and extend to |
|
|
her sincere best wishes in the years ahead; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
