Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 1 of Title 44 an article numbered 14, consisting of a section numbered 44-122.1, as follows:

Article 14.
Burial Fees for Military Spouses.

§44-122.1. Burial fee for military spouses.

From such funds as may be appropriated, the Commonwealth shall pay any burial fee charged for the burial of a spouse of an active duty member or veteran of the United States Armed Forces, or the surviving spouse of such member or veteran, at a veterans cemetery operated by the Department of Veteran Services. The Department of Veterans Services shall develop guidelines concerning the administration of this section.
