Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 17 of Chapter 10 of Title 46.2 a section numbered 46.2-1138.3 as follows:

§46.2-1138.3. Weighing exemption for vehicles owned by a locality.

Vehicles owned by a locality shall not be required to be weighed at a weigh station operated by the Department of Motor Vehicles if such locality is responsible for maintaining the highway or roadway adjacent to such weigh station.
