A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 32.1-47.1, relating to public health emergency; plan for the vaccination of school children.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 32.1-47.1, as follows:

§32.1-47.1. Vaccination of children; plan required.

The Department shall develop, with input from the localities, a plan for the prompt vaccination of all children who attend a public or private school located within the Commonwealth or who are home instructed in the Commonwealth and are subject to the immunization requirements provided in subsection A of § 32.1-46, other than a child to whose health the administration of a vaccine would be detrimental as certified in writing by a physician licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth, upon the declaration of an emergency or epidemic of a vaccine-preventable disease by the Board. Such plans shall be reviewed triennially and updated as may be necessary.
